Timber Terrazzo by Foresso

This product is made of waste wood sourced from trees felled in Britain, unused timber from city maintenance, local sawmills, or even building sites, and is hand finished at their site in Birmingham. Making it perfect for everyday surfaces such as tables, worktops, and furniture.

Foresso’s purpose is to produce beautiful things from unavoidable waste with as low an impact as possible. They source all materials within the UK with an average travel distance of just 43 miles. On site power is solar generated, delivering 100% of energy needs for the majority of the year. Currently less than 5% of site waste goes to landfill. This is primarily used PPE and other un-recyclable material.

Plastic Free-they don’t use single use plastics and the only disposable items they have are essential protective equipment for staff. All domestic packaging is plastic free, with most also being made from recycled materials. Recyclable Foresso can be returned for re-use and recycling, every piece of material no longer needed can be ground up and used in future batches so that none goes to waste.

Foresso’s focus has always been on creating new circular economies rather than diverting waste from existing recycling efforts.

Using planed waste and wood dust adds a gentle speckle and pleasant warmth; essential for the timber terrazzo aesthetic. These are significant waste streams that are impractical for small businesses to recycle. The focus is to use waste streams that do not have an associated circular economy.

A mineral powder mix is used to give the binder exceptional durability and a fine matt finish. It comes from a variety of sources including cement and plaster waste from foundries. And a non-toxic, water based and formaldehyde free binder glue is used to stick everything together.

We believe this is a fantastic sustainable product which we have used in one of our projects below!
